Conquest Resources (TSX-V:CQR) has returned ‘high-grade’ gold results from channel sampling at its Smith Lake Gold Project in Ontario, Canada.
The company collected 15 channel samples and three grab samples from the Campbell vein during a June field program. Channel sample lengths ranging 0.35–1.60m, with results spanning 0.03–29.10 grams per tonne gold (Au).
Of the 15 channel samples, six returned grades above 1g/t Au. Two composite weighted averages delivered 1.95g/t Au over 1.95m from Channel 1 and 15.31g/t Au over 3m from Channel 5.
Grab samples ranged from 0.17g/t to 4.98g/t gold. The company collected samples mainly from pyrite-bearing irregular to folded massive to ribbon-textured quartz veins and sheared metavolcanics.
The Smith Lake Gold Project sits adjacent to Barrick Mining’s (NYSE:B) former Renabie Gold Mine, which produced more than 1 million ounces of gold from 1941 to 1991 at a grade of 6.6g/t Au and 2g/t silver.
Conquest plans to expand exploration at Smith Lake with an approximate 500-sample B-horizon geochemical survey this autumn.
The program will cover an area north-northeast of the Smith Lake gold zone and target potential east-west-oriented gold-bearing structures in an area with limited historical exploration.
The company delivered samples to Activation Laboratories in North Bay, Ontario. Conquest inserted a standard and blank as part of its quality assurance and quality control procedure.
Activation Laboratories performed an internal quality assurance and quality control program, including certified reference materials, blanks, sample repeats, and duplicate samples.
Conquest Resources holds a 100% interest in the Smith Lake Gold Project. The company also maintains interests in the Alexander gold property, King Bay gold property, and Lake Nipigon basin property in Ontario, plus the recently acquired Valimaki Gold Project in southwestern Finland.
