Clara Resources Australia (ASX:C7A) has commenced an expanded high-resolution airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and orthoimagery survey across its Mareeba Gold Project in Far North Queensland.
The survey adds approximately 360km² of high-resolution LiDAR coverage across Clara’s granted tenure, exploration licence applications, and optioned ground. It expands on an initial 39km² LiDAR survey completed in March 2026 and announced in May.
Following its June 2026 ground consolidation, Clara’s holding along the Kingsborough Fault covers approximately 403km², forming a contiguous corridor spanning about 41km.
The survey is being flown at a density of 20 points per square metre with 10cm orthoimagery to improve detection of vegetation-obscured surface features, including historical workings.
“Our first LiDAR survey in May was highly successful and represented a real step-change in how we were able to improve our understanding of existing target areas and identify new prospective areas along the Kingsborough Fault,” Executive Director Duncan Gordon says.
“Now that we have significantly expanded our area of influence, it makes sense to fly the same high-resolution data across the whole package rather than permit by permit.”
The survey is being undertaken by Mangoesmapping Holdings, which completed the initial Mareeba survey earlier this year. Processed data is expected in September 2026.
LiDAR is a remote sensing technology that uses laser pulses to generate detailed terrain models, including beneath vegetation cover.
According to Clara, the data will be integrated with geochemical datasets and historical mine workings to support exploration targeting across the Kingsborough Fault corridor.
“This expanded survey gives us a consistent dataset over the entire corridor to drive our next round of prospect generation as we plan for the commencement of our initial drilling program at Mareeba,” Gordon says.
