Tivan (ASX:TVN) has signed a mineral exploration deed with the Central Land Council for Traditional Owners and Native Title Holders to govern exploration activities at the Sandover Fluorite Project in the Northern Territory.
The company will utilise this deed to expedite a culturally informed maiden drilling campaign, spanning 7,000m to target fluorite veins identified in surface sampling and mapping programs.
Tivan intends to commence drilling in October, following final regulatory approvals from the Northern Territory Government expected shortly.
Meanwhile, the company has also received a sacred site clearance certificate from the Central Land Council, which allocates access to an area of the proposed drilling campaign.
As reported by Mining.com.au, this campaign is partially funded by the state government’s Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations program, which is offering $100,000 for the maiden drilling program as well as another $50,000 for early state metallurgical testwork.
Tivan expects to produce a preliminary assessment of the viability of a development pathway which aims to produce metspar via ore sorting technology, expected in Q1 2026 dependent on the assay results and early stage testwork.
Executive Chairman Grant Wilson says the company is pleased to facilitate a minerals exploration deed with the Central Land Council, which aided on country meetings with Traditional Owners and Native Title Holders last month.
“We are looking forward to redeploying our geology team from Speewah to Sandover in Q4 and closing out this big year for Tivan with our first real glimpse of the Sandover Fluorite deposit,” Wilson says.
Located around 230km northeast of Alice Springs, the Sandover Fluorite Project is under a joint venture with Sumitomo (TYO:8053), with its special-purpose entity Japan Fluorite Corporation committing $5.3 million for a 7.5% stake in the project.
