Cazaly Resources (ASX:CAZ) is planning to conduct initial aircore and reverse circulation drilling within the Goongarrie Gold Project in Western Australia.
The program will be conducted over the Duke of York gold prospect located on the Bardoc Tectonic Zone, between the inactive Jenny’s Reward Mine and the currently operating Goongarrie Lady Mine.
Cazaly aims to test the potential for extending anomalous gold mineralisation up-dip between historical drilling and mine shafts, at depth, and along strike of historical drill intercepts.
This news comes after further re-appraisal of large datasets and historical work conducted over Goongarrie, which highlighted several target areas of interest for Cazaly.
The Bardoc Tectonic Zone has been poorly tested for over 2km between the Goongarrie Lady and Jenny’s Reward gold mines and Cazaly says much scope remains in the area.
Approvals for drilling have been submitted and are pending.
Upon completion of the drilling program at Duke of York, a follow-up program will be planned.
In conjunction, further drill planning is underway for other targets and more regional exploration to fully uncover the gold mineralisation potential along the entire 12km strike of the Bardoc Tectonic Zone within the project area.
The Goongarrie Project, located in the northeastern Goldfields region, comprises 70km2 of greenstone sequence within the Kalgoorlie Terrain.
In March, Cazaly exercised the option to proceed with an earn-in joint venture deal with Brightstar Resources (ASX:BTR) for the Goongarrie Project.
Under the earn-in deal, Cazaly is required to spend an initial $1 million on exploration expenditure within 12 months to earn a 25% interest in the project.
Cazaly will spend a further $1 million within 18 months to earn a 51% interest, followed by an additional $1 million within 18 months to earn an 80% interest.
