Catalina Resources (ASX:CTN) has commenced a 1,500‑sample soil program at its Kirkalocka Gold Project in Western Australia.
The systematic gold‑in‑soil sampling program is the company’s first major field activity following completion of a technical review of its Mid‑West Gold Portfolio.
The review confirmed numerous historical gold occurrences and identified several priority target areas for follow‑up exploration.
The program targets prospective structural corridors identified during the technical review, which confirmed multiple gold mineralised zones, including 6m @ 1.38 grams per tonne gold from 27m (including 3m @ 1.40g/t gold from 27m) and 6m @ 1.79g/t gold from 42m (including 3m @ 3.02g/t gold from 42m).
Executive Director Ross Cotton says the program has been designed to ‘refine historical gold anomalies’ and ‘generate high‑quality reverse circulation (RC) drill targets’.
“Our soil sampling program is now underway across several priority target areas, including Catalina’s tenure immediately adjacent to the Kirkalocka Gold Mine and processing hub,” Cotton says.
Located within the southern Wydgee‑Meekatharra Greenstone Belt, the project contains multiple historically identified gold targets associated with interpreted structural corridors.
The project sits directly adjacent to the Kirkalocka Gold Mine, which contains a 240,000‑ounce gold mineral resource.
Results from the current program will be integrated with historical drilling, geological mapping, and geophysical datasets to generate and rank high‑priority targets for follow‑up RC drilling.
Soil sampling and heritage assessment are currently underway, with assay results expected to refine and prioritise RC drill targets ahead of the company’s planned drilling program.
Catalina Resources is a diversified Australian mineral explorer advancing a portfolio of gold, copper, lithium, and iron ore projects across Western Australia.
