Catalina Resources (ASX:CTN) has identified ‘significant’ historical tungsten intersections at its Tallering Project in Western Australia’s Murchison region.
A review of historical exploration data returned multiple tungsten intersections at the Santy Well Prospect, 17m @ 0.178% tungsten trioxide (WO3) from 79m in drill hole SRC006.
The same hole also included ‘higher-grade’ zones of 4m @ 0.367% WO3 from 79m, with peak grades of 1m @ 0.839% WO3 from 81m and 1m @ 0.531% WO3 from 82m.
Additional tungsten mineralisation returned 6m at 0.200% WO3 from 6m, including 3m at 0.224% WO3 from 9m.
A second drill hole located approximately 100m west returned 3m at 0.154% WO3 from 99m to end of hole, demonstrating continuity of mineralisation across the prospect area.
Historical rock-chip sampling at the prospect returned tungsten values of up to 60.1% tungsten, equivalent to 75.8% WO3.
“The identification of broad tungsten mineralisation, together with previously reported high-grade gold, silver and copper, significantly enhances the exploration potential of the Santy Well Prospect at our Tallering Project,” Executive Director Ross Cotton says.
“Historical exploration was primarily focused on gold and base metals, leaving the tungsten potential largely overlooked despite occurring within the same polymetallic system.”
The tungsten mineralisation occurs within the same system as previously reported base and precious metals, including silver grades of up to 90.30 grams per tonne, copper grades of up to 2.03%, and surface rock-chip results of up to 101g/t gold.
Catalina’s geological team completed a reconnaissance field visit last week, collecting 24 rock-chip samples across the prospects, with results expected within the quarter.
CTN is continuing its systematic review of historical drilling, surface sampling, and technical reports to reassess the project’s broader mineral potential.
