Caspin highlights Brassica Trend potential following visible nickel-copper sulphide hits

Caspin Resources (ASX: CPN) has identified thick, visible nickel-copper sulphide zones following a diamond drill campaign at the XC-46 AEM conductor within its Yarawindah Brook PGE-Ni-Cu Project in Western Australia.

The company notes that these results are associated with the major Brassica Shear Zone, which is interpreted as a connecting structure between the Julimar and Yarawindah regions, reinforcing potential for this trend to host magmatic mineralisation.

Speaking on the results, Caspin Resources CEO Greg Miles said: “Airborne electromagnetics has once again proven to be an excellent first-pass tool for identifying sulphide-rich mineralisation systems at Yarawindah Brook. This bodes well for the future exploration and drill testing of other conductors already identified in the project. But it is worth noting that the PGE-rich style of mineralisation observed at Yarawindah Brook sometimes occurs with only minor amounts of disseminated sulphide mineralisation which may not be sufficient to generate an electromagnetic response. Therefore, the company is following a strategy of systematically collecting multiple datasets and constructing detailed geological models it believes will ultimately lead to a discovery.

Whilst the company’s primary focus remains on the Yarabrook Hill area, drilling at XC-46 has shown that the Brassica Prospect and indeed the entire Brassica trend is a fertile environment for magmatic nickel-copper and PGE mineralisation. Most of this trend is yet to be explored in any modern form and represents an excellent opportunity for discovery. There appear to be some obvious targets for the next phase of exploration at XC-46 but we’re just as excited by the early-stage exploration still to come along the entire Brassica trend.”

Caspin notes that the majority of the XC-46 core conductor, as well as multiple targets along the 17km Brassica Trend remain untested, with recent results demonstrating that mineralisation remains open in all directions.

The 80%-owned Yarawindah Brook Project is located within the emerging New Norcia province, approximately 100km northeast of Perth, and comprises a 400km² footprint.

The project has proven to be an exciting new Ni-Cu-PGE frontier, driven by the success of Chalice Minings’ neighbouring Julimar Project which has returned prospective geology and near-surface occurrences of nickel and copper mineralisation.

With drilling at Yarawindah currently paused, Caspin reports that it will move forward with plans for further drilling northwest of drill hole YAD0024 to clearly define the centre and down-plunge extensions of the conductive plate.

The company is still awaiting final assays from drilling to date from both the Brassica and XC-22 Prospects.
