Blaze Minerals fires into field activities at North Spirit Lithium Project, Canada

Perth-based explorer Blaze Minerals (ASX:BLZ) has begun field activities at its North Spirit Lithium Project in the Great Lakes region of Ontario, Canada.

The $9.42 million market capitalisation company reports a team of geologists and field support have mobilised to the site to initially focus on the anomalous geochemical samples returned from sampling completed in 2007 by the Ontario Geological Survey (OGS).

This work is being completed in the North Spirit Greenstone Belt (NSGB), which lies about 30km southeast of Frontier Lithium’s (TSXV:FL) PAK and Spark Lithium Project.

Blaze reports the initial area of interest lies within a prominent greenstone-granite contact occurring along the Bear Head deformation zone (BHDZ), which is interpreted to be an important control of the emplacement of fertile granites that form the source of lithium-bearing pegmatites within this area.

The company says the initial program is designed to explore the regional contact between the western granite pluton and NSGB and collect samples to determine the prospectivity of the 2 mica granites and pegmatites identified earlier by the OGS.

Blaze says the initial program is being managed by its Canadian partner Exiro Minerals Corp and will see targeted areas mapped and sampled, along with identifying pegmatites for follow-up channel sampling and mapping.

Commenting on the start of field activities, Blaze Minerals Managing Director Simon Coxhell says: “It has been a successful visit where we spent time with the Exiro team and gained a better understanding of the project prospectivity.

We are pleased with how geologically prospective the belt is and have a better appreciation for how unexplored the tenement package is”

We are pleased with how geologically prospective the belt is and have a better appreciation for how unexplored the tenement package is. We are excited that the field program has commenced, and the company looks forward to updating shareholders as exploration activities progress and analytical results are available.”

Blaze Minerals is a Perth-based explorer searching for lithium at its North Spirit Lithium Project in the Great Lakes region of Ontario, Canada. North Spirit covers about 365km-square in Ontario’s ‘Electric Avenue’.

In Western Australia, the company holds a base metals exploration project in the Earaheedy Basin, along with a gold exploration project in the Murchison region. According to Blaze’s latest company presentation published on 10 July 2023, the company had $2.3 million cash at hand.
