Black Rock Mining (ASX:BKT) has begun a limited program of early works at the Mahenge Graphite Project in Tanzania, to support a rapid ramp-up of construction activity.
Construction will accelerate once the company is fully funded and makes a final investment decision.
The scope of the early works program will include starting construction activities such as improving the existing site access roads and plant site earthworks. The work to be completed during the program includes the survey works required for confirming route alignment and profile.
Black Rock will use this as a basis for transmission line design and tower spotting enabling tendering of contracts to begin.
CEO John de Vries says after completing a $4.5 million placement, the company intends to use the funds to make the first step of starting construction.
“Commencement of an early works program allows us to reflect on the very significant milestones recently achieved,” de Vries says.
The Mahenge Project hosts a flake graphite resource of 213 million tonnes @ 7.8% total graphitic carbon and a reserve of 70 million tonnes @ 8.5% total graphitic carbon.
