Multi-operational gold producer Black Cat Syndicate (ASX:BC8) reports it has received ‘high-grade’ results from final assays for a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Coyote Gold Operation in Western Australia.
The company says diamond and RC drilling has wrapped for the year with 11,071m of RC and 6,200m of diamond drilling completed over the last 5 months. It also states nearly every hole drilled this year has returned an anomalous gold result or intercepted a quartz lode structure.
The most recent drill results reportedly have filled the gap between the Kavanagh and Speedy prospects, in the mid-depth levels (100m to 300m below surface) of the Axial Core Zone.
Standout results from drilling in the Axial Core Zone includes 22CYRC053A with 6m @ 13.24g/t Au from 278m; 22CYRC0044 with 2m @ 10.25g/t Au from 237m; and 22CYRC0002 with 3m @ 29.43g/t Au from 82m.
Black Cat Syndicate Managing Director Gareth Solly says the company has completed the 2022 Coyote drill season on a high note.
“Firstly, we have confirmed mineralisation in the 150m gap between the resources at Speedy and Kavanagh. Our new geology model has been a great success and we are looking forward to announcing the updated resource in January 2023.

Black Cat also reports a selection of RC and diamond samples were submitted for photon assay to check its suitability for use in future programs. Photon assays test a larger sample (500g versus 50g) and the company notes when coarse gold is present, it has the potential to provide a more robust quantification of gold (Au) within a sample relative to fire assay.
The company states 4 diamond holes and a selection of RC intervals were selected to have their coarse rejects re-analysed through photon assay, and the results indicated that for RC within the oxide, there is minimal difference between the 2 methods with similar gram metres recorded.
However, for diamond core samples in fresh rock, there was ‘significantly’ more variability between photon and fire results with photon assays recording much higher grades.
Black Cat reports these results indicate that photon assay may be the preferred method for assaying diamond core at Coyote for future programs. It also states all diamond holes drilled to date and select RC drillholes in fresh rock will be re-analysed using the photon method in the coming months.
Assays are also pending from the final diamond tail, which Black Cat says extended RC hole 22CYRCD0048 and targeted the Axial Core Zone around 120m to the west of the focus area of the recent drilling program. Furthermore, an updated resource is expected in January 2023.
