Basin Energy (ASX:BSN) has engaged United Drilling Services to streamline a maiden drilling campaign at the Sybella-Barkly Project in the Mount Isa district of Queensland.
The company intends to conduct 3,000m of drilling over 80 holes to target uranium and rare earth elements, following up on a widespread anomalism uncovered in soil sampling.
Previous exploration uncovered the anomaly to host over 600 parts per million of total rare earth oxide (TREO).
As reported by Mining.com.au, Basin came across these claims with its recent acquisition of critical minerals explorer NeoDys.
Drilling will be covered by the previous vendor’s existing Queensland Government’s Collaborative Exploration Initiative grant, valued at $150,000.
The first phase will comprise 45 holes for up to 1,600m, followed by another 35 holes for 1,400m if permitted by weather.
Phase two will target paleochannel roll front uranium systems uncovered in airborne electromagnetics surveys.
Managing Director Pete Moorhouse says this campaign marks the “first pass drilling ever completed on two exciting district scale concepts”.
“We are also commencing preparation works for a reverse circulation drilling program targeting hard rock REE potential, analogous to the Red Metal (ASX:RDM) Sybella discovery, however this drilling will not commence until Q2 2026,” Moorhouse says.
Basin Energy is a mineral explorer focused on discovering uranium and green energy metal deposits to aid the clean energy transition.
The company will be attending this year’s Noosa Mining Investor Conference, held between 12-14 November 2025, at the Peppers Noosa Resort. Mining.com.au is a media partner for this year’s event.
