Basin Energy (ASX:BSN) plans to conduct further field work next quarter at its Bjökberget, Rävaberget, and Trollberget projects in Sweden, after receiving the results of surface rock chip assay results.
The company says the mineralisation and anomalism observed in rock chip samples, which were collected during an initial reconnaissance mapping program, appears to dominantly be associated with a regional north-northeast trending structure set.
Basin reports the assay results confirm the presence of high-grade uranium-lead mineralisation and strongly anomalous heavy rare earths, with minor accessory minerals consisting of silver and vanadium.
Further, the results demonstrate the mineralisation potential within the 15km-trend held by Basin through the three projects.
Managing Director Pete Moorhouse says with the latest results, the company is eager to advance its projects towards further groundwork and explore the potential of the region.
“The assay results from our first pass reconnaissance mapping program highlight the outstanding potential of this portfolio,” Moorhouse says.
“The presence of anomalous values in key commodities further strengthens the area’s prospectivity, indicating a potentially robust mineralised system at play.
“The potential for blind mineralisation, particularly in our recently granted Trollberget Project, over a significant strike length is highly compelling when we see such tenor of mineralisation.”
Basin Energy acquired the Bjökberget and Rävaberget projects in Q4 2024, while the Trollberget Project was stalked following early site visits last year. The project was granted by the Swedish Mining Inspectorate in late January 2025.
All three projects are located in northern Sweden and are strategically positioned in a prospective metallogenic belt within the Fennoscandian Shield which hosts a diverse range of mineral deposits.
Basin notes the region hosts significant mineralisation, particularly in volcanogenic massive sulphide orogenic hold, and has potential for shear-hosted and epigenetic uranium and rare earth mineralisation.
