Basin Energy (ASX:BSN) has staked two additional claims, comprising 22.3km2 at the Geikie Uranium Project in the Athabasca Basin, Canada.
The addition of these claims, which are contiguous to the Preston Creek prospect, bring the Geikie project’s total area to 373.1km2. At Preston Creek, drilling conducted in 2024 outlined a “large-scale” hydrothermal system within a complex structural corridor with uranium anomalism.
Managing Director Pete Moorhouse says this 1.5km strike gravity anomaly, which remains untested to the northeast, exhibits all the key elements typically found in basement-hosted uranium mineralisation.
“Securing the tenures contiguous to this system is a fantastic addition to the Geikie Project,” Moorhouse says.
The two claims were staked through the Saskatchewan Government mineral disposition process and have been added to the existing earn-in agreement between Basin and CanAlaska Uranium (TSX-V:CVV).
In 2022, Basin entered into an earn-in agreement with CanAlaska, to which CanAlaska granted the company exclusive rights and the option to acquire an 80% interest in mineral claims comprising Geikie over a three-staged earn-in.
As a result of staking the two claims, Basin holds a 60% interest in the Geikie Project.
Previously conducted drilling at Geikie has uncovered anomalous uranium within a structured altered system comparable to multiple basement-hosted uranium deposits in the Athabasca Basin.
Basin Energy is a mineral explorer focused on uranium and green energy metal deposits required to fuel the clean energy transition.
