Azzuro Resources (ASX:AZ9) has reported copper–gold results from its Red Hill Project in Mongolia, with drilling confirming extensions to mineralisation.
Azzuro’s latest batch of assay results from the 2026 drilling program includes a standout intersection from drill hole MU2603, which returned 21.45m @ 1.70% copper (Cu), 0.85 grams per tonne gold (Au), 16.86g/t silver (Ag), and 0.21% zinc (Zn) from 83.20m.
The intersection includes a ‘higher-grade’ zone of 8m @ 3.27% Cu, 1.04g/t Au, 18.09g/t Ag, and 0.20% Zn from 95m, confirming the visually copper-rich massive sulphide logged in the hole.
“The outstanding results from MU2603 have exceeded our expectations. The significantly higher copper grades encountered up-dip from last year’s project due diligence drilling reinforce our belief that Red Hill hosts a substantial high-grade copper-gold VMS (volcanogenic massive sulphide) system with excellent potential,” Managing Director Gan-Ochir Zunduisuren says.
The MU2603 hole was designed to intersect a downhole electromagnetic conductor plate modelled from an earlier drill hole and test for up-dip extensions of massive sulphide mineralisation. The hole intersected the targeted massive sulphide approximately 75–80m up-dip of the previous intercept.
Assays confirm copper tenor in the MU2603 massive sulphide has increased significantly relative to the equivalent intercept in the earlier MU2502 hole.
Additional drilling also intersected shallow copper and gold mineralisation, with MU2602 returning 18.25m @ 0.67% Cu and 0.16g/t Au from 68.75m, including 4m @ 1.51% Cu and 0.34g/t Au from 78m.
The hole also intersected a shallow gold zone of 12m @ 0.74g/t Au from 19m, including 3m @ 1.58g/t Au from 27m.
Three reverse circulation (RC) drill holes tested the lateral continuity of near-surface oxide gold-silver mineralisation north of the Red Hill volcanogenic massive sulphide system. MURC02 returned 5m @ 0.63g/t Au from 5m, while MURC03 intersected 9m @ 0.59g/t Au and 4.17g/t Ag from surface.
The results confirm shallow gold mineralisation extends over a potential 600m strike north of the VMS system.
“Equally encouraging is the confirmation of a broad, shallow gold zone north of the VMS system. Drill holes MURC02 and MU2602 indicate that this mineralisation may extend over more than 600m of strike, highlighting an additional exploration opportunity that could materially enhance the project’s overall potential value,” Zunduisuren says.
The remaining nine drill holes from the 2026 program are expected to be reported during July. The company is also integrating geological, drilling, and geophysical data to refine drill targets.
Azzuro completed the licence transfer for 100% of the Red Hill Project in April 2026.
