Avira Resources (ASX:AVW) is expecting to kick off a phase two drilling program next month at its Puolalaki Nickel-Copper-Cobalt-Gold Project in northern Sweden.
The drilling will comprise 6 diamond drillholes for 805m, with 4 of the holes following up on a previously reported massive sulphide intercept from hole PUO23005 of 36m @ 0.63% nickel, 0.57% copper, 952 parts per million (ppm) cobalt from 16.7m.
Avira’s other holes will test the ‘strong’ off-hole electromagnetic (EM) conductor identified in drillhole PUO23005 and the ‘Sky6’ Sky time-domain electromagnetic (TEM) EM anomaly that sits north of the closed Purnu open-cut pit and within mapped high-manganese mafic-ultramafic rocks.
The diversified mineral explorer says the drilling is expected to take 2 weeks to complete, with the first assays expected in January, depending on lab turn-around times.
Avira Resources Managing Director David Deloub says: “The infill holes surrounding this intercept will try to ascertain the orientation and extent of the mineralised zone as the DHEM completed within PUO23002 was unable to see past the extremely strong conductor that was intercepted by the drilling, effectively masking any potential response beneath.
We are also very encouraged by the strong off-hole anomaly identified in drillhole PUO23005, located approximately 300m west of PUO23002.
PUO23005 clipped a 0.89m intercept of massive sulphide at 226.9m, which assayed 0.89% Ni, 0.19% Cu and 819ppm Co, and the off-hole anomaly detected by the DHEM corresponds to this approximate depth.”
