Avira Resources (ASX:AVW) has returned shallow gold intercepts from the first 13 holes assayed in its maiden reverse circulation drilling program at the Mt Cattlin Gold Project in Western Australia.
At the Plantagenet prospect, hole RAGC102 intersected 8m @ 2.77 grams per tonne gold (Au) from 16m, including 3m @ 4.45g/t Au.
The hole also returned a separate interval of 2m @ 9.68g/t Au from 34m. Another hole, RAGC101, intersected 1m @ 6.14g/t Au from 67m.
Avira says the results outline mineralisation across at least 180m of strike at Plantagenet. The company interprets the lode as dipping about 60 degrees to the north-west, with drilling also indicating potential parallel structures.
At the historic Maori Queen deposit, RAGC108 returned 4m @ 3.86g/t Au from 23m, including 1m @ 13.75g/t Au.
Other results comprise 5m @ 1.10g/t Au from surface in RAGC107 and 5m @ 1.02g/t Au from 45m in RAGC106.
Hole RAGC112 intersected the main lode about 30m below a historical intercept, returning 1m @ 2.76g/t Au from 104m. Avira says this supports its interpretation that the mineralised shoot remains open down-dip, although the hole appears to be approaching the north-eastern limit of the mineralised envelope.
Reported intercepts are downhole lengths. Avira estimates true widths at about 75% of downhole lengths at Maori Queen and 65% at Plantagenet.
CEO Andrew van Bentum says the results support the company’s geological model across both prospects.
“Our geological model is being confirmed and refined with every hole, and these are still early, preliminary interpretations,” van Bentum says.
Avira has drilled 18 of 37 planned holes before suspending the program because of wet winter weather. Assays from five additional Maori Queen holes are expected in the coming weeks.
The company says it plans to resume the remaining 2,500m of drilling in September 2026, including further work at Maori Queen and maiden drilling at the Sirdar and Ellendale prospects.
