Australian Rare Earths wraps up Sheer Gold farm-in

Australian Rare Earths (ASX:AR3) has satisfied all conditions as part of a farm-in and sale and purchase agreement with privately held Sheer Gold, as it proceeds with its exploration licence within the Overland Uranium Project in South Australia. 

In a statement issued earlier today, the company completed the $200,000 exploration expenditure commitment, and as a result, now owns 100% of EL6678 — which expands Overland’s footprint by 990km2

The completion date for the exploration licence’s transfer is expected to be on 30 April 2025. This will allow Australian Rare Earths to formally apply to the Department for Energy and Mining for the transfer of the licence from Sheer Gold. 

Australian Rare Earths, which has a market capitalisation of $14.3 million, says this deal underscores the company’s commitment to exploring and developing strategic mineral resources. 

CEO Travis Beinke said completing the farm-in marks a significant milestone, providing the company with direct control over 990km2 of prospective uranium tenure.

“The early results from our initial drilling program over this tenement have been most encouraging, revealing the potential for both near-surface and deeper uranium,” Beinke says. 

“This achievement underscores our commitment to strategically expanding our critical minerals portfolio and delivering value to our shareholders as we advance exploration across our district-scale 4,800km2 Overland Uranium Project.”

The Overland Project sits in the Murray Basin of South Australia. The project is focused on paleochannel sediments within the Renmark and Murray Groups, which exhibit geological similarities to the Eyre Formation — the host rock for Boss Energy’s (ASX:BOE) uranium operations.  

Australian Rare Earths is a mineral explorer and developer focused on critical minerals needed for a sustainable future. The company’s assets are considered prospective for primarily rare earths and uranium — both essential components for clean energy technologies such as electric vehicles, wind turbines and nuclear power.
