Aurbis Resources (CSE:AURR) has identified strong Robertson-style characteristics at the Ecru Gold Project in Nevada, US, after completing mapping and rock sampling.
These characteristics include areas of intense hornfelsing, brecciation, and silicification, all of which are associated with the Robertson-style intrusion-related gold mineralisation.
Robertson-style mineralisation is named after the Robertson deposit, which has a 2.7-million-ounce resource, located 2km away from Ecru.
Once the magnetic interpretation is complete, that data will be used in conjunction with the 100m x 100m gravity data to model the project’s gravity characteristics.
The combined data will be used to generate initial targets, which will in turn guide a potential induced polarisation survey to identify clay alteration and/or sulphide mineralisation.
Aurbis says the final step envisaged by the exploration program is drilling targets generated from the combined data.
The company says it believes the program represents a robust exploration plan and gives Aurbis “the best likelihood of success for discovery” on the Ecru Gold Project.
CEO and Director Johan Lambrechts says these activities are key to understanding mineralisation characteristics and potential on any project.
“Hornfelsing is a genetic and spatial indicator of the intrusion, a deposit-type classifier and potentially a geochemical facilitator of gold deposition,” Lambrechts says.
“Its presence is critical, and it represents a positive step forward in the Ecru exploration plan.”
More about the programs
The mapping and sampling program is aimed at better understanding the alteration assemblage of the Ecru Gold Project in relation to the Robertson-style intrusion-related gold mineralisation.
Rock samples are undergoing a full mineral suite analysis to support the visual geological mapping interpretations with geochemical data.
The program data is being compiled and will be reviewed alongside the sample results. Aurbis says a second phase of mapping and rock sampling is likely to be undertaken in the near future.
Meanwhile, a field mapping and outcrop sampling program was also completed on the southwestern portion of the Ecru property, with around 100 rock chip samples collected.
Aurbis says the aim of the program was to better understand the distribution of alteration assemblages on Ecru, particularly in relation to the interpreted intrusion identified by magnetic surveys.
The Ecru Project is a gold-prospective asset located in Lander County, Nevada.
