Aruma to implement systematic strategy across Fiery Creek

After acquiring the Fiery Creek Project in Queensland, Aruma Resources (ASX:AAJ) is planning a systematic exploration strategy across the new ground.

Subject to securing shareholder approval at an extraordinary general meeting, initial on-ground field work will comprise mapping and surface sampling programs.

Government-scale gravity and magnetic surveys have already been conducted at the project, and will be followed by a detailed survey designed to understand the structure and alteration systems present within the tenure.

Subject to results, Aruma says magnetic surveys and follow-up electromagnetic surveys of targets generated will be undertaken.

The company says the aim of these programs is to deliver drill-ready targets for a maiden drilling program across the project area.

Managing Director Glenn Grayson says Fiery Creek is subject to limited previous exploration from mining giants Anglo American (LON:AAL) and Sumitomo (TYO:8053), which have delivered “encouraging” results.

“We are thrilled with these historical results from the Fiery Creek Project and about the project’s significant potential,” Grayson says.

“The underexplored nature of the project area combined with the positive historic results and favourable geological setting in the prolific Mt Isa minerals district provide an exciting exploration opportunity for Aruma.”

Previous rock chip sampling results from previous explorers include up to 36% copper by Sumitomo and 25.4% copper by Anglo American.

Aruma says limited historic drill results are interpreted to suggest the presence of a potential copper system. Further exploration is necessary to define scale and economic potential.

The company adds the presence of a red-rock hematite alteration is a further indicator of the prospectivity for primary copper mineralisation.

The Fiery Creek Project lies in the northern area of the Mt Isa region. The geology of the project area is interpreted as being analogous to the units that host copper deposits within the western fold belt of the Mount Isa Inlier.

Aruma Resources is a minerals explorer focused on the discovery and development of a portfolio of projects considered prospective for copper, uranium, gold, lithium, and rare earths in South Australia, Queensland, and Western Australia.
