Aruma Resources (ASX:AAJ) has intersected ‘high-grade’ copper from its maiden drilling program at the Piper prospect, within the Fiery Creek Copper Project in northern Queensland.
Reverse circulation drilling at the Mt Isa copper belt comprised six drillholes across a total of 858m, targeting copper mineralisation identified in recent surface sampling and induced polarisation (IP) surveys.
Highlights from the program include 2m @ 1.67% copper from 74m; 4m @ 0.28% from 83m, including 1m @ 0.89% copper from 83m; 7m @ 0.11% copper from 87m; and 1m @ 0.34% copper from 29m.
Managing Director Grant Ferguson says the company is pleased with the drilling program’s success in intersecting “high-grade” copper mineralisation, which validates the exploration model.
“The discovery of anomalous copper mineralisation associated with the Lady Loretta and Esperanza Formations, which are cornerstone of the region’s mineral endowment, underscores the potential for the project area to host a highly prospective mineralised system within the prolific Mt Isa copper province,” Ferguson says.
The company intends to conduct follow-up drilling after reprocessing IP survey data to construct a 3D structural and geological model.
A second reverse circulation drilling program will focus on the northern and southern conductors, testing the extent of mineralisation.
Located in the north-west area of the Fiery Creek Project, Piper is prospective for copper, gold, antimony, and silver.
