Arrow Minerals (ASX:AMD) has been granted a three-year industrial exploration permit for its Niagara Bauxite Project in Guinea, replacing the previous licence that was under government review.
The Government of the Republic of Guinea awarded the permit via a ministerial decree to Arrow’s wholly owned subsidiary Mineralfields Bauxite SARLU.
The permit covers the same 499.61km² area as the previous one, which has been subject to government review since May 2025.
Managing Director David Flanagan says the Arrow is ‘delighted’ with the granting of the new licence.
“The Government of Guinea has completed a systematic review of the Niagara Project, our historical work activities, as well as our capacity and capability to take the project forward in accordance with the Guinea Mining Code,” Flanagan says.
“The company remains committed to working closely with the Ministry of Mines and Geology to ensure the continued advancement of the project in accordance with the Guinea mining code and any applicable regulatory requirements.”
Arrow paid approximately US$14,000 ($20,004) in fees and taxes to Guinea’s Ministry of Mines and Geology to secure the permit. Under the new licence terms, Arrow must spend a minimum of US$1.513 million over three years, with work required to commence within six months.
The permit includes renewal rights for two additional terms of up to two years each if required.
Arrow previously reported a mineral resource for Niagara in March 2025, highlighting the project’s direct shipping ore potential.
The company says it has commenced planning further fieldwork for Niagara and will now move to completion under the amended acquisition agreement for the project.
Meanwhile, Arrow’s Simandou North Iron Project remains under review after being included in government media announcements regarding potential permit cancellations in May 2025.
The company notes it has not received formal communication from Guinea’s government regarding changes to that permit’s status and continues engaging with relevant authorities for clarification.
