Arizona Eagle Mining (TSX-V:AZEM) reports zinc-silver volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralisation northeast of the McCabe mine from its phase-one drilling program at the Eagle Project in Arizona, US.
The company completed seven holes targeting northeasterly striking, steeply dipping sulphide-bearing quartz veins that may extend beyond the area covered by the historical resource estimate of approximately 880,000 ounces of gold @ 11.7 grams per tonne at McCabe.
Holes Eagle‑26‑05 and Eagle‑26‑06, located approximately 200m and 250m northeast of the McCabe mine, both intersected ‘high-grade’ zinc‑silver VMS‑type mineralisation.
The intervals are on strike with three past‑producing silver mines, recently acquired by Arizona Eagle, located approximately 1km northeast of McCabe.
CEO Kevin Reid says the phase-one program has validated the company’s belief that ‘high‑grade’ gold and silver mineralisation “remains open beyond the area covered by the historical estimate”.
“Our second hole successfully tested the northeast extension beyond an interpreted fault offset where historic mining and underground exploration stopped. This shows the potential to define additional mineralisation northeast of the area covered by the historical estimate,” Reid adds.
Holes Eagle‑26‑03 and Eagle‑26‑04 intersected a sulphide‑rich shear zone at approximately 390m to 400m and 380m to 388m downhole respectively, along strike from historically mined mineralisation.
Further northeast, Eagle‑26‑05 and Eagle‑26‑06 intersected mineralisation at shallower depths from 205m to 220m and 222m to 225m downhole, with a mineralisation character shifting from pyrite‑arsenopyrite dominant to sphalerite‑galena rich.
Arizona Eagle Mining holds a 100% interest in the Eagle Project in Yavapai County, Arizona, anchored by the past‑producing McCabe mine on 140 hectares of private land.
The company has expanded its total land position to 1,687 hectares through staking and acquisitions.
The zinc‑silver VMS intervals show similarities to the past‑producing Iron King mine, located approximately 4km on strike to the northeast of McCabe.
Historical records at Iron King reported production of 5.7 million tonnes at 2.6g/t gold, 98g/t silver, 4.9% zinc, 1.8% lead, and 0.1% copper.
