Antares Metals (ASX:AM5) has uncovered visible chalcopyrite amongst already known copper and uranium mineralisation at its Queens Gift prospect within the Mt Isa North Copper Project.
The company recently conducted a rock chip sampling program at the prospect, accounting for five outcrops along a 1km strike length, which returned sulphide minerals indicated between 1-3% of chalcopyrite, as well as 0.5-2% of pyrite.
Rock chips were tested to identify anomalous radioactivity using a handheld RadEye PRD scintillometer, followed up by portable x-ray fluorescence analysis.
Assay results are expected to be returned in 4-6 weeks.
Antares intends to finish compiling geological and geophysical data findings to progress Queens Gift and prospective surroundings with geological reconnaissance and sampling, including ground truthing.
In addition to the work being carried out within the greater Mt Isa North Copper Project, the company intends to begin drill testing at the Calton Hill prospect after acquiring updated geophysical data.
Meanwhile, the company is entering phase one of drilling at the Conglomerate Creek Copper Project and planning for phase three of drilling at the Surprise Copper Project.
CEO Johan Lambrechts says the company is impressed by the mineralisation discovered at the prospect to date, with geologists intending to continue exploration across the tenement holdings.
“The sampling and reconnaissance activities conducted at the Queens Gift resource shows that it contains zones of copper mineralisation along with the uranium previously identified and we are excited to continue evaluating and exploring this prospect,” Lambrechts says.
“We consider the Mt Isa North Copper and Uranium Project to host multiple advanced prospects with confirmed mineralisation including the Queens Gift uranium prospect, allowing us to rank and refine our exploration activities moving forward.”
