Antares Metals (ASX:AM5) has commenced a 1,500m aircore drilling program at its Quinns Gold and Copper Project in Western Australia.
The program targets the Venture and Fennell prospects. This marks the first drill testing of the company’s Meekatharra greenstone belt tenure. Both prospects are defined by ‘high-grade’ surface geochemistry that has never been drill tested.
At Venture, aircore drilling will test a 600m by 250m gold-in-soil anomaly peaking at 1,570 parts per billion (ppb) gold (Au). The anomaly lies immediately adjacent to the historic Enterprise gold mine.
Venture contains two ‘higher-grade’ zones peaking at 1,570ppb Au and 500ppb Au.
Fennell has returned ‘high-grade’ rock chip results from shallow workings and quartz veins bisecting outcropping banded iron formation.
‘Standout’ results include 65.2 grams per tonne Au, 16.63g/t Au, and 8.77g/t Au from May sampling, plus 15.93g/t Au and 5.3g/t Au from August sampling.
“Getting drill rigs turning at Quinns is a milestone for this project,” Managing Director Terence Topping says.
“Venture and Fennell are two of the highest-priority gold targets we have generated in Western Australia, and this program gives us our first look at what sits beneath the surface at both.”
The Quinns Project covers 383km2 of the Meekatharra greenstone belt, approximately 10km from Monument Mining’s (TSX-V:MMY) Burnakura Mill and 50km from multiple Westgold Resources (ASX:WGX) operating mills.
Antares will complete the 1,500m program and submit samples for assay. The company expects the results to provide its first insight into the bedrock source of gold at two of its highest-priority Quinns targets.
