Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) has uncovered “high-grade” gallium and barium in historical rock chip and soil sample assays at the Ajana Project in Western Australia.
Historical samples assayed up to 390 grams per tonne (g/t) gallium, which was identified through reviewing WAMEX reports.
Gallium is a soft metallic element used in semiconductors, blue-ray technology LEDs, mobile phones, and nuclear engineering. The mineral is considered non-toxic and resistant to neutron radiation and beta decay.
Anson Resources, which has a market capitalisation of $124 million, says the historical rock chip results correlate with recent drilling completed by the company at Ethel Maude.
Recent drilling undertaken at the Ethel Maude prospect identified “high-grade” zinc and silver. The company reports maximum values returned up to 67g/t gallium, 44g/t indium, 40g/t germanium, and 22,020g/t barium.
Anson Resources has planned more drilling programs to extend these zinc-lead-silver-gallium-indium-germanium-barium mineralised zones and the critical minerals have the potential to represent a significant economic addition to all of Anson’s prospects in the Ajana area.
The company notes the interpreted anomalies found from historical soil sampling programs and geological mapping programs are being used as a basis for follow-up drilling programs to be conducted.
These follow-up programs will provide further analysis of the critical minerals that are present at Ajana.
