Anax Metals (ASX: ANX) has identified massive copper and zinc sulphide mineralisation following metallurgical and geotechnical diamond drilling at its Whim Creek Project in Western Australia.
The near-surface mineralisation was intersected following a recent diamond drilling campaign across the project, with the Salt Creek Deposit returning massive to semi-massive sulphides and the Evelyn Deposit reporting 15m-wide mineralisation.
The recently-completed campaign was tasked with gathering metallurgical samples and geotechnical data for feasibility studies.
Speaking on the results, Anax Metals Managing Director Geoff Laing said: “Initial observations from this latest round of diamond drilling have been very encouraging and while assay results are still awaited, intersection of massive copper and zinc sulphides and confirmation of historically defined mineralisation is exciting.

Both Evelyn and Salt Creek are very high-grade deposits. Metallurgical test work is due to commence shortly and is expected to confirm visual estimates of compatibility with existing processing design engineering work. It is intended for both high grade deposits to feed directly into the Whim Creek development scenario.”
Drilling at Evelyn confirmed 11.9 metres of fresh massive sulphide mineralisation, indicating that the main shoot is potentially open down plunge, and providing an ‘enticing’ drill target for resource expansion.
In addition, the Salt Creek Deposit delivered similar results after drill hole 22ASCD003 intersected 20.5 metres of fresh, semi-massive to stringer sulphide mineralisation from 121m down hole.

Anax reports that it will move forward with preparation of metallurgical test work on representative samples from the Evelyn and Salt Creek Deposits once all assays and XRF results are finalised.
