Anax Metals (ASX:ANX) has appointed Danny George as Chief Operating Officer to advance the Whim Creek Copper Project towards production.
George brings more than 20 years of international experience delivering complex mining, minerals processing, infrastructure, and critical minerals projects across copper, base metals, and iron ore.
The appointment comes as Anax progresses project financing for its 80% interest in the Whim Creek Copper Project, located 120km southwest of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Develop Global (ASX:DVP) holds the remaining 20%.
George has held senior executive and project leadership roles with Mineral Resources, ThyssenKrupp, Fortescue, and Ausenco.
His prior experience includes executive roles in the North American critical minerals sector and project leadership on major EPC and EPCM programs, including a greenfield copper complex in Kazakhstan that now produces more than 200,000 tonnes of copper per year.
“We are delighted to welcome Danny to the Anax Metals team. His depth of technical and engineering experience, combined with his proven track record in successfully delivering major mining projects, makes him ideally suited to lead the Whim Creek project team into this critical phase of development,” Managing Director Geoff Laing says.
As COO, George will be responsible for delivering the Whim Creek Project from front-end engineering design through to construction and steady-state operations.
The company has received indicative debt financing offers for up to US$40 million ($57.2 million) for its 80% stake, with site visits and technical expert appointments now underway as part of due diligence.
The company recently appointed geologist Nick Jolly as a non-executive director to boost technical capability and support exploration of historical drill results and underexplored targets at Whim Creek.
Anax Metals is focused on becoming a near‑term copper and zinc producer, with its flagship 80%-owned Whim Creek Project in Western Australia.
