American Uranium (ASX:AMU) is targeting an interim resource update by late March 2026 at the Lo Herma In-Situ Recovery (ISR) Uranium Project in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin in the US, with drilling to restart next week.
The company says it has mobilised a drill rig to restart drilling on 9 February, after completing a “successful” program in late 2025.
Upcoming drilling will continue the initial resource expansion phase with up to 15 holes across 6,900m to further extend mineralised trends to the north and target infill drilling.
The infill drilling phase will begin in Q2 2026 and will cover 56 holes across 16,000m to upgrade the resource estimate from inferred to indicated or measured within Mine Unit 1 (MU1) and Mine Unit 2 (MU2).
American Uranium intends to conduct a Scoping Study in Q3 2026 after increasing Lo Herma’s resource confidence.
CEO Bruce Lane says the company has further focused upcoming drilling to expand the resource size and geological confidence of MU1 and MU2.
“This work will also help refine the planned Q2 infill drilling campaign prior to a further mineral resource estimate upgrade and an updated Scoping Study in Q3 of 2026,” Lane says.
“The Scoping Study aims to demonstrate Lo Herma’s potential to deliver similar economic potential to ISR uranium mines currently planned or constructed in Wyoming such as Ur-Energy’s Shirley Basin Project.
“Our resource development drilling programs and recent successful hydrogeological study at Lo Herma represent major steps toward advancing one of America’s most promising ISR new uranium projects.
“Lo Herma is one of the few near-term, low-cost ISR projects in the US and the drilling campaigns are targeting both growth of the current 8.57 million pounds resource base and increased confidence in mineral resources.”
As reported by Mining.com.au in December 2025, drilling confirmed mineralised trends north of proposed mine units for up to 3km, with highlights of 4.1m at 0.078% equivalent uranium trioxide containing 1m at 0.143% equivalent uranium trioxide in hole LH-25-048.
American Uranium has a drilling permit to cover 121 holes across 37,500m, with the initial campaign covering 50 holes for 15,000m in December 2025.
The initial campaign intended to target a resource expansion, with a focus to the north of MU1 and MU2.
Located in Wyoming, American Uranium’s Lo Herma ISR Uranium Project hosts a resource of 8.57 million pounds of triuranium octoxide.
