American Uranium (ASX:AMU) has employed specialist engineering evaluation firm Petrotek to conduct hydrogeological testing at the Lo Herma In Situ Recovery (ISR) Project in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming, US.
Petrotek will begin testing operations in November 2025, while the company conducts phase one of resource development drilling.
The tests will include single-well pumping tests to uncover sustainable pumping rate, well efficiency, and hydraulic properties of the resource which hosts the aquifer.
As reported by Mining.com.au, the company completed fieldwork studies in March 2025, conducting metallurgical and hydrogeology testing to shape a Scoping Study for the project.
American Uranium, known as GTI Energy at the time, drilled, logged, and completed four holes, all demonstrating mineralisation within groundwater aquifer.
CEO Bruce Lane describes the upcoming programs as “major steps toward advancing one of America’s most promising ISR uranium projects”.
“Lo Herma is one of the few near-term, low-cost ISR projects in the US and the hydrogeological testing to be undertaken by Petrotek aims to validate our initial aquifer observations and affirm our confidence in the aquifer transmissivity,” Lane says.
“We are delighted to have secured Petrotek’s significant expertise and experience with analogous ISR uranium projects in the Powder River Basin.
“This work is expected to feed into an updated mineral resource estimate and Scoping Study in 2026, positioning us to deliver value from America’s nuclear energy revival.”
