Alice Queen extends Viani’s maiden drilling program

Alice Queen (ASX:AQX) has decided to add another drillhole to its maiden diamond drilling program at the Viani Project in Fiji, following intersecting the target zone 300m below surface.

The fourth drillhole is currently underway and is expected to intersect the target zone around Easter.

The third drillhole was recently completed, which intersected 125m below the second drillhole. Assays from the third hole have been dispatched and are expected to be returned in three weeks.

As Mining.com.au previously reported, results from the second drillhole at the Dakuniba prospect, upgraded the potential for the 3km-long vein zone to host high-grade low-sulphidation style epithermal (LSE) gold mineralisation.

LSE deposits include Pajingo, Cracow and Kencana where deeper drilling has discovered more than 1 million ounces of gold in high-grade gold shoots.

Managing Director Andrew Buxton says the first two holes at Viani returned gold results of up to 26.4 grams per tonne gold demonstrating a high-grade epithermal gold zone from surface to a depth of 175m.

“The third hole intersected the alteration zone at a depth of 300m and while we eagerly await those assays, we are pleased to advance that we have extended our maiden program and have commenced a fourth hole to test for the first time, approximately 50m to 80m laterally, west-north-west from the high-grade epithermal gold intersected in drillhole 25VDD002,” Buxton says.

In parallel, Alice Queen is also conducting further trenching along strike to uncover other high-grade zones at surface and possible future drill targets.

The company says it is ultimately exploring for economically mineable high-grade dilation zones and ore shoots within the confirmed epithermal gold mineralised system.

The Viani Project, located on Vanua Levu, has the potential to host a high-grade vein style epithermal gold system.

Alice Queen is a mineral explorer focused on developing gold and copper projects in Australia and Fiji.
