Albion Resources (ASX:ALB) considers recently discovered anomalies as a priority for follow-up electromagnetic (EM) geophysics, upon reviewing assays for 129 soil samples from the Leinster Project in Western Australia.
The assay results returned have refined 5 ‘large’, strongly elevated platinum group metals and other nickel fertility rations indicative of nickel-copper-PGM sulphide deposits. Albion reports highly elevated PGM is further confirmation of the possible presence of Ni-Cu-PGM sulphides in fresh rock at depth.
The company says further work is warranted as these newly defined consistent and coherent anomalies ‘strongly’ support the potential for discoveries on the project
Albion is evaluating previous drill data in comparison to newly refined soil anomalies to determine if they have been adequately drill tested or not. Once this is completed, the company will consider the most appropriate electromagnetic (EM) geophysical method to uncover bedrock conductors to advance targets towards drill testing at the Leinster Project.
The company reports in the western portion of the project, a greenstone belt 4.5km long and 300m to 1.5km wide was subject to an extension of a previous soil sampling survey to cover that greenstone belt with samples at 50m spacing and lines spaced 400m apart.
New soil data and the combined dataset is now defining a more refined and clear picture of where the anomalies lie along that belt.
The Leinster Project covers the southeast extents of the same Greenstone Belt of the ‘world-class’ Leinster Nickel Mine camp of Western Australia.
Albion Resources is a base metal and gold explorer with assets in Western Australia.
As of 31 December 2023, the company had $3 million cash and cash equivalents at hand, according to its latest quarterly report.
