Woomera Mining launches lithium geochemical sampling program at Mt Cattlin Project in WA

Woomera Mining (ASX:WML) has scheduled a geochemical sampling program to begin in May 2023 on the recently identified lithium anomalies uncovered at its Mt Cattlin Project in Western Australia.

The company reports the sampling program is planned to the north of the project to delineate the full extent of the lithium anomaly within Woomera’s tenure.

Additionally, Woomera reports once all of the results are received and processed from the sampling program, it will plan a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program to test the anomalies.

In February 2023, Woomera conducted an auger program at the project and the assay results have defined 2 ‘large’, ‘strong’, more than 100 parts per million lithium anomalies, along with several smaller, less continuous anomalies.

The company reports the main eastern anomaly extends over 1.5km in length and is open to the north, which is coincident with a recently reported rock chip sample that returned highly elevated pathfinder elements for lithium, which indicates good potential for rare-earth, LCT pegmatites on the project.

Meanwhile, the western anomaly is about 1km long and extends north from Woomera’s southern tenement boundary.

Woomera Mining Chairman, Ian Gordon says: “Whilst this is still early days, we are excited about having clear targets for assessment and look forward to securing access for further on-ground activities as soon as possible.”

The recently completed auger program comprised 1,143 samples collected on a 200m by 50m pattern across cleared farmland.

“Whilst this is still early days, we are excited about having clear targets for assessment and look forward to securing access for further on-ground activities as soon as possible”

Woomera states that given that seeding for the upcoming cropping season has started, the company intends to liaise with the local landowners with the intent of fast-tracking the drilling campaign as soon as possible.

The company’s wholly owned Mt Cattlin Project is located 6km north of Allkem’s (ASX:AKE) Mt Cattlin lithium mine in south-east Western Australia.

Woomera Mining is a mineral exploration company, focused on exploring for battery metals and gold in the Yilgarn and Pilbara Cratons of Western Australia, as well as the Musgrave Province and in the Gawler Craton of South Australia.
