Wildcat discovers 8km² lithium anomaly from soil sampling at Bolt Cutter

Wildcat Resources (ASX: WC8) has announced the presence of a ‘large’ 8km² lithium soil anomaly at its Bolt Cutter Gold Project in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

Assay results from first-pass reconnaissance soil sampling across the trending Pilgangoora and Wodgina fault returned a ‘strong’ 4km x 2km lithium anomaly with a reading of greater than 50ppm.

Speaking on the discovery, Wildcat Resources Chief Executive Officer Samuel Ekins said: “The scale of the anomaly for the lithium and LCT pegmatite trace element indicators identified by this first pass exploration of E45/5612 has exceeded our expectations. The work has identified a large, coherent lithium soil anomaly located between regionally important structures, along trend from the Pilgangoora and Wodgina lithium deposits.

To identify an anomaly, from the first systematic sampling ever completed in the area, that is large enough to contain a target of a comparable scale as two significant lithium projects along trend is very promising. We will commence follow-up field work immediately.”

This recent anomaly is further supported by additional element signatures along a larger 14km zone that reports a consistent fractionated and fertile pegmatite source.

The Bolt Cutter project is located within the Pilbara’s Mallina province, approximately 34km along a northeast structural trend from Pilbara Minerals’ (ASX:PLS) Pilgangoora Lithium Project, and 58km along a northeast structural trend from Mineral Resources’ (ASX:MIN) tier-1 Wodgina Lithium Project.

With the soil sampling campaign finalised, Wildcat reports that geological reconnaissance, mapping and rock chip sampling of the 8km² anomaly has commenced, with further infill soil sampling to commence in April across the broader14km anomaly.
