WIA reports ‘excellent’ gold results from trenching at Kokoseb

WIA Gold (ASX: WIA) has announced ‘high-grade’ gold mineralisation from trenching work across the Kokoseb Gold Anomaly within its Damara Project in Namibia.

The results, which the company says highlight the economic potential of the anomaly, are set to be incorporated into the planning of a larger-scale drilling program.

Key grades include:

  • Trench 4: 18m @ 2.04g/t Au incl. 25m @ 1.55g/t Au
  • Trench 5: 2m @ 0.89g/t Au, 52m @ 1.65g/t Au, 6m @ 1.14g/t Au and 10m @ 1.05g/t Au

In addition, 9 diamond drill holes have been completed at Kokoseb in order to confirm test results at depth.

Addressing the results, WIA Gold Chairman Andrew Pardey said: “These additional trench results, with substantial width and high-grades, provide further confirmation that Kokoseb is emerging as a highly significant prospect. The trenches are part of a systematic program of exploration and they provide a valuable insight into the nature of mineralisation on the prospect.

These additional trench results … provide further confirmation that Kokoseb is emerging as a highly significant prospect”

This critical information will be used towards the planning of a larger scale drilling program in due course. Finally, we have nearly completed our maiden diamond drilling program, which seeks to confirm the trench results at depth and has given us a first look at the mineralising system at Kokoseb.”

The company also notes that core sampling has commenced, with samples to be submitted to the ALS laboratory in Namibia. Earliest assay results are expected during the current quarter.

Returned assays from initial diamond drilling confirm that all completed holes have intersected zones of alteration and lithologies that correlate to the trenches conducted on surface.

The Damara Project is strategically located along key regional structures within Namibia and covers a total land area of approximately 3,100km².

The project consists of 12 tenements and is held under a joint venture with the state-owned mining company Epangelo, as well as a local Namibian group.

With the current trenching and diamond drill campaign almost complete, WIA reports that it is moving forward with preparations for two additional trenches and diamond drill holes while assays are pending.
