Wia Gold prepares for follow-up drilling on targets at Bouaflé Project, Côte d’Ivoire

Wia Gold (ASX:WIA) has scheduled a follow-up aircore (AC) and shallow reverse circulation (RC) drilling program for Q4 2023 at its Bouaflé Project in Côte d’Ivoire.

The $23.59 million market capitalisation company will be testing ‘drill-ready’ targets identified through recent auger drilling.

The auger drilling delivered numerous kilometre-scale gold anomaly targets, with peak values of up to 5.6g/t gold (Au) intersected within in-situ mineralisation.

Wia says the anomalies are interpreted as sediments-hosted veins, often as en echelon systems and stockworks, and shear-hosted veins.

The most ‘significant’ anomaly Wia reported is the more-than-5km-strike anomaly, which is located in the core of the main mineralised shear. This anomaly was partially drill tested by previous explorers on the permit.

Commenting on the recent results and upcoming activities, Wia Gold Chairman Andrew Pardey says: “While the success of our exploration activities at Kokoseb in Namibia has come into sharp focus over recent months, it is important to note that we continue to systematically advance high-quality prospects across our impressive Côte d’Ivoire tenement portfolio.

The scale of anomalism and magnitude of gold values returned from the auger program at Bouaflé Sud stamps these targets as walk-up, drill-ready ones”

The scale of anomalism and magnitude of gold values returned from the auger program at Bouaflé Sud stamps these targets as walk-up, drill-ready ones.

We are now in the process of designing a follow-up drilling program to test these targets, which is set to commence promptly post-wet season.”

The auger drill program totalled 9,919m and was completed at the Bouaflé Sud permit from the end of December 2022 to April 2023. The program included reconnaissance, lines which have been followed up by infill lines, targeting the gold anomalies previously returned by termite mounds surface sampling programs.

The Bouaflé Project encompasses 2 exploration permits covering an area of 742km-square. A third permit, Zenoula, is under application.

Wia Gold is a gold-focused exploration company. The company is actively exploring for gold in the Damaran belt in Namibia and the Birimian greenstones of Côte d’Ivoire.

On 31 March 2023, the company had $3.502 million cash and cash equivalents at hand, according to its latest quarterly report published on 21 April 2023.
