Wia Gold prepares for follow-up drilling at Mankono Ouest Permit, Côte d’Ivoire

Wia Gold (ASX:WIA) is planning a follow-up aircore and shallow reverse circulation (RC) drill program in Q4 2023 at its Mankono Ouest permit in Côte d’Ivoire.

The company has decided to conduct further field programs at Mankono following recent aircore drilling results from the area. Further, Wia says the regolith profile in the area of the drilling is not well preserved due to heavy reworking by local farmers and plantations, hence the planned RC drilling.

Recent auger drilling results have delineated a new 2km gold anomalous corridor with multiple peak gold values of more than 150 parts per billion (ppb).

Wia adds that at the same time, a maiden aircore drilling program completed over the previously discovered 1.7km auger anomaly has returned broad mineralised zones with ‘significant’ intercepts.

The company reports these drill results include drillhole MKAC0001 with 12m @ 0.67g/t Au from 5m; drillhole MKAC0020 with 5m @ 1.12g/t Au from 1m; and drillhole MKAC0080 with 9m @ 0.54g/t Au from 33m.

Commenting on the recent discoveries, Wia Gold Chairman Andrew Pardey says: “The identification of a new 2km corridor of significant gold anomalism in the southern area of Mankono Ouest, including multiple auger sample results above 150ppb Au, is a further promising development.

We look forward to drill testing this new zone from Q4 2023 onward”

We look forward to drill testing this new zone from Q4 2023 onward, along with undertaking follow-up RC drilling of this previously identified 1.7km anomaly that was recently the subject of our maiden aircore program at Mankono Ouest.

We continue to systematically advance high-quality prospects across our impressive Côte d’Ivoire tenement portfolio. The opportunity to make another substantial gold discovery keeps us highly motivated there, in parallel with the ongoing resource expansion drilling activities at our world-class Kokoseb Gold Project in Namibia.”

Wia Gold is a gold-focused exploration company listed on the ASX. The company is focused on rapidly advancing its recent Kokoseb discovery, located in Namibia.
