ASX-listed exploration company Wia Gold (ASX:WIA) reports it has identified a 4th ‘high-grade’ gold mineralised zone following a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the southern side of its Kokoseb Gold Project, as part of its Damaran Gold Project in Namibia.
The results, generated by a total of 12 RC drillholes has extended the continuous gold mineralised strike a further 1.8km to a total of 4.4km on a southern trend, and has confirmed the existence of a 4th mineralised zone on the southernmost side of Kokoseb.
Key intercepts include KRC036 with 26m at 2.02g/t Au from 74m, including 5m at 5.97g/t Au; KRC035 with 20m at 2.09g/t Au from 42m, including 6m at 4.70g/t Au.
It is reported that these 4 ‘high-grade’ zones are the primary focus for infill RC drilling, in hopes of defining a maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) that is expected to be released in Q2 of next year.
Assays from drilling conducted on the eastern trend of the project are currently pending, and infill drilling on the ‘high-grade’ North West (NW) Zone has commenced.

Speaking on the results, Wia Gold’s Chairman, Andrew Pardey, says: “The wide space reconnaissance drilling along the Kokoseb gold anomaly was an important step in identifying priority targets for infill drilling. Infill drilling has now commenced at the NW Zone and will ‘significantly’ ramp up with addition of a second drill rig. We are now looking forward to the definition of a maiden mineral estimate at Kokoseb.
“We are also delighted with these latest RC drilling results that have highlighted a new ‘high-grade’ zone – the fourth such zone at Kokoseb – located on the southern side of the project”
We are also delighted with these latest RC drilling results that have highlighted a new ‘high-grade’ zone – the fourth such zone at Kokoseb – located on the southern side of the project. A further 1.8km of continuous mineralised strike was added, which brings the total strike length to 4.4km, some of which has been drilled with single holes at 300m spacing. ”
The company also notes that the thick, ‘high-grade’ intercepts returned from drillholes KRC035 and KRC036 are complementary to the previous results delivered from Trench OT008 and diamond drillhole KDD009.
Mineralisation from this new zone is also reported to be open at both depth and along strike towards the south, where mineralisation is inferred to be continuous at depth under the thrust.
In addition, the majority of the completed drillholes within these mineralised zones have returned over 50 grams by metres gold, which demonstrates the very good continuity between the drilled sections and the holes along these sections.
The overall drilling completed to date remains at a very wide spacing, and leads to the belief that as drilling progresses new, ‘high-grade’ zones of mineralisation could be potentially discovered.
Wia Gold is a gold focused explorer that boasts a portfolio of advanced exploration projects in Côte d’Ivoire and Namibia. The company’s Damaran tenement is strategically located along key regional structures in Namibia’s Damaran belt. The project comprises 12 tenements that cover a total land area of 2,700km-square held under a joint venture (JV) with state-owned mining company Epangelo and a local Namibian group.
With drilling activities still ongoing throughout the tenement, Wia Gold announces it remains focused on defining the MRE for the NW Zone of the tenement by Q2 2023.
