White Rock zones in on potential new mining area at its Morning Star Gold Mine

White Rock Minerals (ASX: WRM) has announced further ‘high-grade’ gold results as well as a potential new mining area at the Morning Star Gold Mine within its Woods Point Gold Project in Victoria.

The results, generated from a recently-finalised surface drilling campaign that targeted the mine’s Stacpoole Reef, has reported grades of up to 20.1g/t Au:

  • Hole 21SDS007: 3.8m @ 5.5g/t Au; including
    • 0.6m @ 19.5g/t Au (true width)
  • Hole 21SDS006: 3.7m @ 6.1g/t Au; including
    • 1.8m @ 10g/t Au (true width)
  • Hole 22SAP005: 5.3m @ 3.7g/t Au; including
    • 0.4m @ 20.1g/t Au (true width)
  • Hole MSA24: 1.1m @ 13.5g/t Au (true width)

White Rock also notes that a newly-identified area within the underground Morning Star Mine has the potential to measure over 120m in strike length and up to 20 metres down-dip, along the eastern margin of the dyke.

‘High-grade’ cores greater than 10g/t Au have been reported within the prospective portion of the Stacpoole vein, with several true-width mineralised intervals greater than 3m.

The company is confident that Stacpoole Reef could form one of multiple production areas in any restart scenario, with White Rock also conducting various drilling campaigns at the Age of Progress, Whitelaw and Dickenson reefs.

The Woods Point Gold Project, located in Victoria, boasts a 660km² tenement package with historical workings that provide an opportunity for low capital cost restart of production from multiple reef locations.

The ‘high-grade’ Morning Star Mine accounted for 883,000 oz of historical gold production with an average grade of 26.5g/t Au.

With surface drilling at Morning Star now complete, the company reports that it has moved forward with further drilling operations across the untested southern extension of the Stacpoole Reef.
