Westgold Resources (ASX:WGX) has fired the first high grade stope at the Great Fingall mine in Cue, Western Australia, delivering grades between 3-4 grams per tonne gold.
The Great Fingall mine was last mined between 1891-1918, producing 1.2 million ounces of gold. Westgold believes that at a steady stage of production, starting in 2027, Great Fingall will deliver approximately 0.5 million tonnes per annum (tpa) of high grade ore to Westgold’s processing hub in Cue.
This will supplement the feed from the nearby Big Bell mine, delivering over 1 million tpa to the processing hub already.
Managing Director Wayne Bramwell says that the restart at Great Fingall is a “proud achievement” for the company and mining community.
“The high-grade output from Great Fingall will complement the volume from Big Bell, strengthening our operations and creating lasting value for our shareholders,” Bramwell says.
Westgold Resources is a West Australian gold producer, operating plants and underground mines with a processing capacity of approximately 6.6 million tpa.
