Western Yilgarn prepares for RC drilling campaign at Bulga Project, WA

Western Yilgarn (ASX:WXY) is gearing up for a fresh reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at its Bulga Project in Western Australia.

The company made the call to launch this drilling campaign after reviewing historical drill results from BHP/Nickel West (ASX:BHP) and St George Mining (ASX:SGQ) that demonstrated ‘extensive’ nickel mineralisation within the project area.

Western Yilgarn says the previous aircore (AC) and RC results had delineated broad zones of nickel-cobalt (Ni-Co) mineralisation from between 2m and 48m deep. Further, the mineralised horizons contain anomalous platinum and palladium credits.

These significant historical results include drillhole HWAC12, with 45m @ 0.55% Ni, 229 parts per million (ppm) Co from 24m, including 20m @ 0.83% Ni, 312ppm Co from 24m; and drillhole HWAC06 with 48m @ 0.34% Ni, 174ppm Co from 48m, including 18m @ 0.51% Ni, 246ppm Co 48m.

Commenting on this discovery, Western Yilgarn Chairman Peter Lewis says: “It is extremely gratifying to see our methodical exploration approach paying off so soon in the program.

The complex nature and therefore potential of the geology at Bulga prompted our exploration team to interrogate the soils on a macro basis whilst revisiting historical drillhole results completed by 2 previous companies.

“In addition, our team was able to visit the subject holes and retrieve further samples. The news is good. Our assay results are now eagerly awaited”

Western Yilgarn reports the intercepts lie over a 9km trend on 500m spaced lines with holes between 100m to 2km apart.

Additionally, the company has completed a phase two auger geochemistry program on a 400m by 200m infill of the initial 22 targets defined in its phase one program, with all samples submitted to the laboratory for analysis.

The Bulga Project lies 50km to the southwest of Agnew and centred on Pinnacles Station. The project consists of 4 granted contiguous exploration licences and 2 applications that encompass a combined area of about 477km-square.

Western Yilgarn is an early-stage mineral exploration company focused on its 5 active exploration projects located across Western Australia. The projects are prospective for nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum group elements, along with gold and lithium. The company’s projects include the Bulga, Boodanoo, Sylvania, Melbourne, and Darling Range projects.
