Western Star Resources (CSE:WSR) is preparing a phase one exploration program at the recently acquired White Star Tungsten Project in Nevada.
The program is designed to deliver the geophysical and geochemical datasets required to define and rank drill targets across the project. Exploration will also support a notice of intent and drill permitting process.
Property-wide surveys are expected to be completed, which will define the signature of the past-producing Mission Cross workings. The surveys will include a high-resolution unmanned aerial vehicle magnetometer survey and a soil geochemistry survey.
CEO Blake Morgan says White Star surrounds a documented past producer in a tungsten district that has never been evaluated using modern geophysics or systematic geochemistry.
“Our plan is straightforward: fly the property with a high-resolution drone magnetic survey and use soil geochemistry to define the true scale of the tungsten system at the property,” Morgan says.

Earlier this month, Western Star acquired White Star via paying US$70,000 ($98,400) and issuing three million common shares to the vendors. The company also granted a 1% net smelter return royalty in respect of commercial production.
The White Star Project is located in the Charleston Mining District of Elko County, Nevada. Exploration has not been conducted on the property since the 1950s.
Historical tungsten production recorded at the Mission Cross Mine recorded 1,000 tonnes of ore assaying up to 1% tungsten oxide.
White Star sits within the same contact metamorphic tungsten-molybdenum skarn setting as the company’s Rowland Tungsten Project. Both projects cover more than 6km of prospective tungsten-bearing horizons.
