Western Star Resources (CSE:WSR) has submitted an application in response to a solicitation from the US Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC) to provide a reliable supply of critical minerals focused on tungsten to the US.
The DIBC is managed by Advanced Technology International and aims to expand and diversify the defence industrial base in the US, enable private sector businesses to work in partnership with the federal government, as well as provide non-dilutive financing for key contractors and provide the government access to commercial solutions for defence requirements.
In February 2026, the DIBC issued a new request for a project proposal focused on strategic critical minerals. The Department of War has prioritised identifying supply chain alternatives for defence-critical minerals used in the production of aircraft, missiles, semiconductors, and other defence technologies.
CEO Blake Morgan says the team will be travelling to Washington this month to discuss Western Star’s past-producing tungsten asset.
“We believe this asset offers significant upside and look forward to demonstrating its potential as we approach our maiden drill program in 2026,” Morgan says.
Western Star is also conducting a non-brokered private placement to raise C$500,000 ($512,063).
Under the placement, 833,333 flow-through common shares will be issued at C$0.60 per FT share. The funds will be used to incur eligible Canadian exploration expenses that are ‘flow-through mining expenditures’ at the Western Star Project in British Columbia.
Western Star Resources is a mineral explorer and developer focused on rediscovering North America’s tungsten powerhouse.
