Western Star Resources (CSE:WSR) has mobilised its field team to the Rowland Tungsten Property in Elko County, Nevada, to phase one of the company’s 2026 field season.
The 2026 field program will be the first modern exploration program on the past-producing tungsten system that occurs at the property.
Western Star will conduct a high-resolution drone magnetic survey to map the intrusive contacts, structural corridors, and potential skarn/tactite zones at Rowland.
The company’s exploration campaign will also include systematic prospecting, sampling of historical waste dumps and workings, and launching a property-wide soil geochemistry campaign.
Western Star’s soil geochemistry program is designed to refine its understanding of the prospective tungsten-bearing skarn horizons at the project.
Geophysical results from drone exploration are expected in the coming weeks, awaiting contractor processing and interpretation timelines.
The exploration campaign is expected to provide Western Star with drill targets by the end of the field season.
CEO Blake Morgan says the project has yet to be evaluated using modern drone geophysics and systematic property-wide geochemistry, with historical production documented, visible historical workings, and a “compelling skarn geological setting”.
“Our team is now on the ground at Rowland and beginning the first modern exploration program on this past-producing tungsten system,” Morgan says.
“This program is designed to move Rowland from a historical tungsten occurrence toward a modern, drill-targeted exploration project.
“This key data will give [us] what we need to generate high-priority drill targets really for our maiden 2026 drill program.”
Meanwhile, Western Star recently acquired the White Star Tungsten Project in Nevada, US, located within and adjacent to an underexplored past-producing tungsten complex, as reported by Mining.com.au.
The company will pay US$70,000 ($97,997.7) and issue three million common shares to the vendors for the acquisition, as well as grant a 1% net smelter return royalty in respect of commercial production.
Western Star Resources is a mineral explorer and developer aiming to discover properties using cost-effective exploration practices.
