Western Star Resources (CSE:WSR) has received certified laboratory assay results from inaugural programs at the Rowland Tungsten Project in Nevada, US, demonstrating the ‘high-grade’ nature of the system.
Peak rock chip assays returned 4.02% tungsten trioxide (WO3) from the Rowland main workings, with additional results of 3% WO3 from the White Star batholith mine. Three other samples returned grades above 2% WO3 from the Rowland main zone.
Outcrop, float, and channel sampling at the project confirm tungsten mineralisation across all three previously identified zones of historical workings.
The results will be integrated with the completed unmanned aerial vehicle magnetic geophysical survey and the pending soil geochemistry to support the company’s ongoing drill target generation across the consolidated Jarbidge-Charleston tungsten footprint.
CEO Blake Morgan says receiving results of this tenor, more than double the reported historical grades, marks an ‘exciting’ development at the project.
“With the geophysics complete across both properties and the assays now in hand, we are building the integrated Jarbidge-Charleston dataset we need to move confidently into drill target generation,” Morgan says.
At the White Star Tungsten Project, rock chip sampling was preliminary in nature and focused on roadside outcrops showing historical workings or visual skarn indicators.
Western Star says the initial results are ‘encouraging’ as the highest grade sample was collected from an area not previously known to be mineralised.
Two rock chip samples were collected, returning 3% WO3 and 711 parts per million molybdenum, and 0.13% WO3 from an area with little outcrop where light detection and ranging (LiDAR) analysis indicates a rehabilitated open pit zone.
Further soil sampling is continuing at the projects.
