Western Mines Group (ASX:WMG) has uncovered ‘high-grade’ sulphide segregations at the Mulga Tank Nickel-Cobalt-Copper-Platinum Group Elements (PGE) Project in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia.
The company recently completed a diamond core tail program to follow up reverse circulation drilling at hole MTRC011, conducted in October-November 2023.
In a zone prospective for multiple semi-massive sulphide segregations, the new hole (MTD028) intersected 140m @ 0.49% nickel from 874m, including 82m at 0.55% nickel from 886m.
The company has conducted portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) readings at hole MTRC011, taken at 50cm intervals to a depth of 312m.
Assays are expected in the next five to six weeks, while the company focuses on completing phase four of drilling at the project. The campaign is anticipated to last through until the end of the year.
Managing Director Caedmon Marriott says the review of sulphide occurrences highlights a “very active and prospective mineralised zone” at the bottom 200m of the complex.
“MTRC011 is the closest reverse circulation hole to MTD028 and this diamond tail aimed to further test and extend this mineralised basal zone – stepping out from MTD028, whilst saving 312m of additional drilling,” Marriott says.
“The hole validates our exploration thesis with a similar very ‘active’ zone, containing multiple highgrade semi-massive sulphide segregations seen at depth above the basal contact.”
