Western Australia opens EIS for Diggers rush

The Western Australian Government has opened applications for its Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS), allocating funds to mining and resources companies for drilling, geophysics, and energy analysis expenses.

Applications for the 32nd round of funding opened on day one of the Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum and will close at 4pm AWST on 29 August 2025.

Grants are expected to encourage mining companies to tackle “high-risk, high-reward” projects in otherwise underexplored regions.

Terra Metals (ASX:TM1) is one explorer to receive an EIS grant in previous years, supporting early stages of exploration at its Dante Project in the West Musgrave region of Western Australia.

Funds were used to progress this project through to metallurgical testing.

The company has exercised its option to expand its Dante landholdings, acquiring privately held HRM Exploration and four exploration licences contiguous to the project, as reported by Mining.com.au.

Future Metals (ASX:FME) received a grant in round 29 to execute a maiden drilling program across the Eileen Bore prospect within the Alice Downs Corridor, which returned copper, nickel, and platinum group element mineralisation.

The company intends to feed copper through the nearby Savannah plant, held by Zeta Resources (ASX:ZER).

Kula Gold (ASX:KGD) is another recipient of EIS funding in round 30, streamlining a “significant” gold intercept in the first hole of drilling at the Mustang prospect within the Kirup Lithium Project.

Mines and Petroleum Minister David Michael says EIS intends to accelerate mineral discoveries, support local expertise, and create jobs across the state.

“I’m looking forward to hearing more about the latest exploration successes and innovations at this week’s Diggers & Dealers conference in Kalgoorlie,” Michael says.

Diggers & Dealers is running from 4-6 August 2025 in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, exhibiting more than 159 mining and resources delegates.

Mining.com.au is again attending the event with Executive Producer Shae Russell on the ground.
