Westar Resources gears up for more planned drilling at Mt Finnerty JV Project, WA

Westar Resources (ASX:WSR) is working towards planning further gold exploration drilling once a structural interpretation has been confirmed at the Mt Finnerty Joint Venture (JV) Project in Western Australia.

The Mt Finnerty JV is held by Ramelius Resources (ASX:RMS) and Rouge Resources (CVE:RRS), a subsidiary of Westar.

Further initial planned drilling will test the veracity and continuity of interpreted ‘high-grade’ veining in the area. Westar says a review of structural data from a diamond core drilling program is still ongoing, with preliminary interpretation implying a mineralised structure associated with mafic and ultramafic intrusives.

Additionally, Westar reports the validation of this interpretation has several implications for the project, including a conclusion that ‘high-grade’ mineralisation uncovered to date may remain open in multiple directions.

Westar’s decision to go forth with further drilling follows the receipt of the final assays from its recent diamond drilling program.

The company reports results from the final 2 holes at the Tasman prospect include drillhole FLRC0029, with 8.70m @ 13.4g/t Au from 173.5m; and drillhole FLRC0038, with 3m @ 3.64g/t Au from 250m.

Commenting on the Mt Finnerty Project, Westar Resources Executive Director Lindsay Franker says: “The Mt Finnerty JV is continuing to deliver high-grade results, and we’re further encouraged by Ramelius Resources MD Mark Zeptner’s comments on the JV.

The Mt Finnerty JV is continuing to deliver high-grade results”

We look forward to Ramelius continuing their work at the Mt Finnerty Project with the structural review and future drilling.”

Additionally, Ramelius Resources Managing Director Mark Zeptner says: “Our Mt Finnerty JV is starting to look more and more interesting, with additional high-grade hits and the geologists beginning to understand the controls to the mineralisation.”

The Mt Finnerty Project is located about 200km northeast of the Ramelius Edna May mine and mill. Westar holds a free-carried 25% interest until a decision to mine is made, at which point the company can either contribute to ongoing expenditure or dilute its interest in the project. Meanwhile, Ramelius has earned a 75% interest in the Mt Finnerty Project.

Westar Resources is a Perth-based mineral exploration company focused on the discovery and development of ‘high-quality’ precious and future metal assets in Western Australia.
