West African Resources hits ‘significant’ zones of gold mineralisation at MV3

West African Resources (ASX: WAF) has reported ‘extensive’ zones of gold mineralisation following RC and diamond drilling operations at the MV3 prospect, located 6km from its Sanbrado Gold Operations in Burkina Faso.

The results, generated from 29 RC holes and 3 diamond holes at the deposit, have returned ‘significant’ grades including:

  • MAK22-RC050: 15m @ 5.8g/t Au from 91m
  • MAK22-RC064: 4m @ 14.4g/t Au from 125m
  • MAK22-RC041: 24m @ 2.1g/t Au from 13m
  • MAK22-DD001: 14m @ 3.5g/t Au from 184m
  • MAK22-DD003: 2.5m @ 16.1g/t Au from 150m
  • MAK22-RC043: 14m @ 2.8g/t Au from 106m
  • MAK22-RC038: 13m @ 2.5g/t Au from 50m
  • MAK22-RC054: 3m @ 9.9g/t Au from 68m

Speaking on the results, West African Resources Executive Chairman Richard Hyde said: “RC and diamond core drilling at the MV3 prospect has intercepted further zones of gold mineralisation including 15m at 5.8g/t gold and 4m at 14.0g/t gold. Drilling has now intercepted gold mineralisation over more than 800m of strike.

The MV3 prospect represents an outstanding opportunity to add near-surface high-grade mill feed, located just 6km from Sanbrado. Further drilling is planned to etst steeply plunging high-grade ore shoots and further results are pending.

The feasibility study for WAF’s 6.8Moz Kiaka Gold Project is on track for completion at the end of Q2 2022. West African Resources is entering a significant growth phase as we aim to be a +400,000oz per year gold producer by 2025.”

The Sanbrado Gold Project is located approximately 90km east-southeast of Burkina Faso’s capital city, Ouagadougou, and covers a total land area of 116km² comprising one granted mining permit and one granted exploration licence.

WAF owns a 90% interest in the project, which boasts a mine life of 13 years and a 2022 unhedged gold production guidance of 220,000 – 240,000oz at AISC of US$1,040 – 1,100/oz. Production is expected to average 198,000oz gold per annum between 2022 to 2031.

With infill drilling at the project ongoing, the company reports that it will move forward with follow-up diamond drilling down plunge of high-grade ore shoots in the coming weeks.
