The Western Australian Government is doubling its Strategic Industries Fund as part of its ‘future Made in WA’ plan.
Funded in the 2025-26 State Budget, the $1 billion Strategic Industries Fund will deliver common-user infrastructure at Strategic Industrial Areas (SIAs) throughout Western Australia.
A detailed plan for additional investments from the Strategic Industries Fund is under development and will be released by the Premier later this year.
Western Australia’s SIAs are located at the Pilbara, Mid West, Goldfields, South West, and Western Trade Coast, and are poised to become home to several clean energy and major industrial projects in the coming years.
The fund will support developments at several key sites, including the South West Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Hub in Picton, which will become home to one of Western Power‘s two poles and wires manufacturing facilities.
Initial investments will also be made from the Strategic Industries Fund to support road upgrades at the Kemerton and Kwinana SIAs.
Planning and Lands Minister John Carey says the clean energy transition and Western Australia’s ‘nation-leading economy’ means demand for industrial land remains high.
“This significant investment demonstrates how our government is doing everything it can to secure the State’s future pipeline of industrial land,” Carey says.
The SIF’s doubling complements several additional election commitments delivered in the Budget, including support for new energies industries through the Investment Attraction Fund and top ups for the New Industries Fund and the Collie Industrial Transition Fund in support of the town’s Just Transition.
Premier Roger Cook wants WA to become the best place in the world to do business.
“This means becoming a global leader in investment attraction, industry facilitation and regulation,” the Premier says.
“Our $1 billion Strategic Industries Fund is about getting our most important industrial areas investment ready, attracting more projects and delivering more jobs in an increasingly competitive global environment.”
