Viridis Mining and Minerals to generate new drill targets at South Kitikmeot Gold Project

Junior explorer Viridis Mining and Minerals (ASX:VMM) plans to generate new drill targets on the Gold Bugs, Bling, and Esker 2 properties within its South Kitikmeot Gold Project in Canada.

Viridis says combining new data from its recently completed geophysics program in the area with historical gold-bearing surface samples will allow it to generate these new drill targets on the properties.

This geophysics program recently completed across the 3 properties defined iron formation at the Gold Bug and Esker 2 properties.

Further, Viridis says the iron formation at Gold Bugs is known to host gold mineralisation.

The company adds that preliminary geological indications from historical drillholes at the Brandon Hill prospect, paired with the 2022 ground magnetic survey, helped build Viridis’ confidence in the validity of the historical data and provided a foundation from which to advance future exploration programs.

Commenting on the survey results, Viridis Mining and Minerals Executive Chairman Agha Shahzad Pervez says: “We are delighted to have completed an additional geophysics program over a number of high-priority targets within the South Kitikmeot Project, which allows the company to better understand the lithology and underlying structures that host gold mineralisation within the project area.”

Meanwhile, Viridis says assays are still pending from recent drilling at the Esker Lake prospect, and the results will help the company define a more ‘robust’ exploration model for the area.

The South Kitikmeot Gold Project comprises 7 properties, covering 11,448 hectares, within the Back River of Western Nunavut, Canada.

Viridis Mining and Minerals is a resource exploration and development company with projects in Canada and Australia. The company’s portfolio of assets includes the South Kitikmeot, Boddington West, Bindoon, Poochera and Smoky projects.
